Monthly Meeting - The abolition of ageing

Monthly Meeting - The abolition of ageing

Our speaker for October will be David Wood, who has been researching for many years into the reversing of biological ageing. It may sound like science fiction, but the possibilities of this are increasingly being recognised by mainstream scientists. What are the implications of extending the human lifespan for our society, and how do humanists regard these developments?

David is the chair of the London Futurists, whose mission is "serious analysis of radical scenarios for the next 3-40 years" and is the author of books on futurism, including The Abolition of Ageing. He is the Principal of Delta Wisdom, an independent futurist consultancy and publisher, and frequently speaks on the topics of futurism and transhumanism.

Guildford & Woking Humanists

Do you think about what is right and wrong, based on reason and respect for others?

Do you find beauty, and joy in the one life we have, without the need for an afterlife?

Do you look to science instead of religion as the best way to discover and understand the world?

Do you believe people can use empathy and compassion to make the world a better place for everyone?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then why not come along to one of our events and meet a friendly group of humanists, atheists, agnostics, skeptics and free-thinkers. We hold monthly speaker events and/or discussions at the Guildford Institute (in the Assembly Room on the first floor unless otherwise stated) and regular social events - all are welcome! There's no entry charge or membership fee, but we do collect donations to cover the room hire and speaker expenses - a donation of £3 is suggested unless you're a student in which case it's free.
